16 participants  from 10 project partners met in October in Herzogenaurach for the first project meeting of ultraSURFACE organized by the partner Schaeffler. The consortium first presented current project results for all running and completed tasks. For the deformable mirror (beam-shaping approach) first results were shown regarding the simulation of the resulting beam profile using raytracing and a parametric model of the mirror surface. The focus of the subsequent discussion was on the design on the optics and the control of all the components in the machine for both approaches (beam-shaping and multi-beam). Together with all the partners a first draft was compiled for the control. The next meeting will take place in Ingelfingen at the facilities of GEMÜ.
